Growing up with sport at Agora Portals International School:
Agora Portals International School – More than a class – Sports
For students of Agora Portals International School, sport is an essential part of the curriculum. The surroundings in which our international school is located are ideal for participation in sporting activity, through which pupils develop knowledge and values while they build relationships and share experiences with their classmates and pupils from other schools.
At Agora Portals International School, sports help our pupils to develop and strengthen values such as perseverance, self-improvement, teamwork and co-operation. In P.E classes our pupils participate in both national and international sports: baseball, hockey, rugby, acrosport, dodgeball, badminton, ping-pong, ultimate Frisbee, football, basketball, volleyball and handball.
We also offer our pupils the judo, tennis, football, basketball, volleyball and chess sports schools.
Another sport we consider to be particularly important at Agora Portals International School is swimming, one of the most complete forms of exercise to aid physical development: both muscular development and the balance between body and mind. All our Infant Education and Primary Education pupils have swimming lessons in class time. If they wish to, they can also take part in further swimming sessions as an extracurricular activity and even become part of the Swimming Club.
Our pupils also have the Agora Portals International School Sports Club available to them, through which the football, basketball and volleyball teams compete in different leagues. Thanks to the school’s fantastic location, pupils also have the opportunity to learn to sail.
Pupils at Agora Portals International School can also take part in numerous sporting events held throughout the academic year. For example, outdoor activities such as our trip to the Pyrenees. Within the school we have a sports activities week, our summer sports camps, a 7km race for school pupils and their families, an end-of-year tournament with sports like football, volleyball and basketball, and the 7km 7A Portals race. We also have Sports Day, a day of sports competition in which our school houses take part in friendly competition, giving pupils a chance to mix with students of all ages.
On a global level, Agora Portals International School participates every year in the NACE Olympic Games, a competition organised by NACE Schools which promotes sport and international education while welcoming students of different nationalities, cultures and languages from all schools in the NACE group.
